Golden EDI upgraded PAC's ERP and WMS integration and improved speed and accuracy

PAC transitioned from legacy ERP- and Warehouse systems to a cloud-based solution, improving their efficiency and data management.

Teaming up with Goodfellows and Golden EDI turned out to be a collaborative success.

Background

About PAC

PAC is a large Swedish wholesaler of food packaging solutions, hygiene products and catering supplies to restaurants, hotels and food service companies. Their customers include big chains like MAX Hamburgers, Scandic Hotels, Mr. York and Strawberry Hotels, and various restaurant groups. To be a single point of contact for their diverse customer base, PAC needed to upgrade their digital infrastructure, including their ERP-system, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and WMS, NYCE.LOGIC.

With Goodfellows as their Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) partner, and Golden EDI for system integration, PAC went through a smooth transition to a modern, cloud-based solution to keep up the pace with their growing business and customers’ demands.

Upgrading PAC's systems – a complex necessity

Before this, PAC was using an outdated, custom-built integration between their old ERP and WMS systems. Preparing to upgrade to Business Central and NYCE.LOGIC 4, there were some challenges to take into consideration.

Complex legacy systems – PAC had many customized features in their previous systems, influencing the upgrade.

Multiple parties – The project required coordination between PAC, Goodfellows, Golden EDI and Extenda Retail (NYCE.LOGIC).

Data management – PAC’s data management was complicated by the way they purchase and sell products in different units.

“We had a lot of moving parts – upgrading both Business Central and NYCE.LOGIC, as well as updating our webshop. Communication was key in aligning all the teams involved.” Mats Nyström, CEO at PAC.

Collaborative problem solving

The project kicked off in November 2023, beginning with a pre-study and initial meetings where PAC got to know Golden EDI.

"We didn’t know much about Golden EDI before, but Goodfellows recommended them. From our first meeting, I had a good feeling. I could quickly tell that they knew what they were doing, and that made the decision easy." Mats Nyström

We have worked with some of Golden EDI’s consultants before and have always been impressed, we knew they would be the right integration provider for PAC.” Åsa Lindell, COO at Goodfellows.

Golden EDI worked closely with PAC, Goodfellows and NYCE.LOGIC consultants to ensure that the complex integration between Business Central and Nyce 4 ran smoothly.

Golden EDI built the integration using APIs, which improved the speed and accuracy of data management, allowing PAC to quickly identify and resolve errors.

"We had weekly check-ins, which really helped solve our communication challenges. When we hit the testing phase in February, everyone was on the same page, and by the time we went live in April, we were ready." Mats Nyström

Going live was a smooth transition.

"The go-live day was a success. Our warehouse team finished their work on time, and everything ran smoothly across BC and NYCE.LOGIC. It wasn’t without some small hiccups, but it all worked out as planned, and the team felt confident." Mats Nyström

Integration made smpl.

Now, PAC has a digital infrastructure and an API-based integration that has improved transparency and internal processes, making it easier to identify and resolve issues.

"The big improvement is that we now have a more general solution for our different systems. We can see where issues occur and fix them faster. It has been a huge step forward," says Mats Nyström.

PAC’s internal team has also been empowered to resolve many issues themselves. Two employees are trained to monitor the system, improving independence and reducing the time lost for smaller issues.

If and when support is needed, PAC is in good hands with Goodfellows

"We want to be the first line of support for PAC as much as possible, and the partnership with Golden EDI enables us to. They’re quick to respond, which helps us deliver the level of support PAC needs." Hanna Hugander, BC Specialist at Goodfellows.

The collaboration continues

The collaboration between PAC, Goodfellows, and Golden EDI continues, now focusing on additional features, such as handling return orders and expanding EDI functionality for suppliers.

"If you have the right team – like we did with Åsa and Hanna from Goodfellows and Rasmus and Rickard from Golden EDI – then it’s a partnership that really works." Mats Nyström

Conclusion

PAC’s digital transformation wasn’t without its challenges, but with the combined efforts of Golden EDI, Goodfellows, Extenda Retail, and the PAC team, they successfully upgraded their systems and created a more efficient infrastructure. The project was delivered on time, within budget, and the results have made a positive impact on PAC’s day-to-day procedures.
